Happy 2018 everybody, we hope you had a relaxing time over the Christmas holidays. We on the other hand have had a real time of it! Hannah came down with a nasty and very painful bout of Pancreatitis and had to be hospitalised until Christmas eve. She is waiting to have an operation which should be in the next two weeks. I have Bipolar and 3 weeks before Christmas became really low and couldn't face going out or seeing anyone. I had to take time off while my medication was increased and I began to recover. So, it is for these reasons that we have been so quiet of late. But we both managed Christmas day with our families and got together on Boxing day. New years eve was a quiet one here in Cornwall. We devoured the left over cheese board whilst watching Jools Holland, then my four year old woke up and stayed awake to watch the fire works and join in with the festivities. So, although the crochet has been slow there is still a lot going going on.
Back in October I was very lucky to be accepted onto the SSE (School for Social Entrepreneurs) course in Devon, which runs for a full year. It's an achievement I am very proud and excited to be part of. Part of the course involves appointing us with a mentor who I met last week and is fantastic. Along with other things he's going to help me with the paperwork and finances so I can concentrate on designing new kits for you guys!
We have decided to move our office completely to Cornwall, so that everything we need is in one place. Moving offices means I'll only be 5 minutes away from home plus I can take my lovely dog, Mabel, with me which is a happy bonus- so excuse the cute doggie photo spam. Plus, I get to reorganise which means an Ikea shopping spree, whoop whoop!
We are now using Cygnet yarns in our kits. We chose them because their range is so diverse and the quality is top notch. We are particularly loving Boho Spirit, its just so soft. Such a wide range means we can continue to bring you even more quirky and colourful designs. We started designing our newest creation, the mermaid, last week and the first prototype is looking good, she just needs a few tweaks here and there and then some pattern testing (keep your ears open for announcements).
We have a new website where you can purchase all of our full colour pattern downloads and crochet kits, keep an eye out for discounts! The very talented graphic designer Jack Davidge has just finished our branding and we couldn't be happier. We wanted our branding to reflect our creative, playful side and we think Jack has captured this perfectly, plus how cute is Pablo the chameleon?!
We have a full calendar of designing to be getting on with plus the important task of turning Chameleon Crafters into a CIC (Community Interest Company) oooeerr!
Have you checked out the wonderful Untangled yet? I run support groups for families experiencing Post and Pre Natal Depression in Cornwall. 15% of the sales from Chameleon Crafters go to Untangled to continue its successful running.
Well, that's it for now. Stay well and happy hooking!
